Eyes!

I had my one week eye appointment and it went well. I need to switch to three instead of four drops of the steroid eye drop and start another. So many eye drops!

I'm going to get a little more near vision in my right eye. Right now, I think it's just past fingertip length for it to be clear, which is a little awkward for things like cooking. I know it's not the permanent vision, but since my doctor suggested a little more near last appointment, it sounded good.

He said I'd lose some distance and might need glasses to drive at night, but that's fine. I'll trade some distance for some near. And I can have LASIK if needed. Hopefully not, but it's good to know!

I'm so ready for Tuesday!

Time is weird

I've had my new car a year today. It feels like I just got it.

Watching testing today also felt like a year. So boring...

Monday accomplished

And my poor mom. She has the flu or something similar. We've been staying apart since she figured out she was sick, but we didn't avoid each other the day she got sick. *fingers crossed* I didn't get it on Saturday.

I'm glad...

I'm glad I had so much practice with my eyes being weird and taking off glasses and putting things inches from my face to help me through between surgery time.

For distance, things are ok enough and amazing when I cover my right eye. So if I'm walking around a lot, I cover it.

My mom's full frame +3 reading glasses make reading nice and clear--if I cover my right eye. And everything in my perephrial vision is weird. Today I had to go to the store (walked around with one eye covered) and randomly found a display of reading glasses. The highest strength they had was +2, which isn't quite strong enough, but they're half glasses and rimless, and don't distort peripheral vision and I can wear them without covering one eye. +2.5 half frames might be better, but I'm not trying for perfection during this between time.

If I really need to see something, I can still lift it to my right eye. Like, two or three inches away. The nearsighted extremely good close up vision distance has been getting shorter and shorter.

I am so ready for surgery number two!

I rescheduled my car service because I need nothing this weekend. *thud*

Thanks, but...

Today my right eye seems to want to help more than it bas been. Relax, right eye! Let the left eye do its thing!

Work was weird today. I'm very happy to have this process started, but it's going to be a long two weeks!

Wow!

20/20 in my operated eye! I see better with it and my -9 prescription right eye than I did with glasses!

I have another appointment in a week. My doctor wants me to tell him what I like and don't like. He said he could give me a little more near vision in my right eye, which probably sounds good.

Right now I'm borrowing my mom's reading glasses. I'll eventually get my own, correct strength, but these are good for now!

Home!

The surgery is done!

Everything is weird. On the way home, i was able to read some signs and things weren't tripled. It's a little blurrier now and I have zero close up vision. And glasses with one lens!

Things should be blurry for 1-3 days. Hopefully one!

Sleeping in with purpose! As long as I don't get up, I won't notice that I want coffee or water or toast. Thankfully eye two in two weeks is in the morning! Normally I prefer afternoon things, but not when they involve fasting!

Currently the most stressful part of surgery is wondering if I'll come out of it to find nuclear war or something. I just hope I get both eyes done before the potential apocalypse...

At staff development day, I cast on stitches for the neck and bound off one sleeve!

Then I took a half day because I was caught up and didn't need time in my room.

Meetings can be useful!

As of now, I'm going to staff development day tomorrow. There's no need to be there, just listening to meetings, but I've taken off so much time this semester. So, I guess I'll go to work...

Finally

I finally did my taxes today. Such an accomplishment. Once I figured out how to get my W-2 to my phone, it was locked to my work account, it took about 15 minutes.

I also started eyedrops for my cataract surgery! That's actually exciting.

Shoes!

I decided to try to make the shoes the model is wearing in the picture with the seahorse bathing suit. It's a flat with net at the toe and laces. I ordered thin espadrille soles (https://diegos.com/collections/espadrilles-soles/products/traditional-espadrilles-soles?variant=39627609473201), a palm thimble, needle, and 4mm ivory cord from Diego's. The pictures of making them look basically like the cork shoes I've made.

I ordered sagebrush cotton in sizes 3 and 10, and a tiny crochet hook from Knit Picks. The same color as the suit. Normally I don't want to match things, but there are patterns for matched sets of other things, so why not? I also found a book of knit and crocheted shoes. (https://www.etsy.com/listing/57721702/stunning-1930s-knitted-and-crochet-shoes) I'm not planning on using the patterns, but proof that it was done!

The shoes are a mesh pattern so I looked up mesh stitches, and it looks within my crochet capabilities. Chain, single or double crochet (I found patterns using each. I like the double crochet one more, but single would be easier), keep going, next row, do the single or double crochet in the middle of the last row's single or double crochet. I think if I make the pattern in cloth, I can just make a mesh the right size.

Maybe if it works I can make that cute bathing beret. More likely I'll run from crochet, as usual. Counting is hard for me. I can count knitting because the loops are right there, but it's so hard to see the stitches in crochet to count them. To be fair, counting rows and stitches below the needle is also hard in knitting. Thankfully you rarely have to do that.

Nice!

It's a three day weekend and I'm probably going to call in for staff development day on Monday, then I have Tuesday and Wednesday off for eye surgery. I'm ok with this!
